Harry Bertoia for Knoll Large Diamond Lounge Chair with Full Cover

Harry Bertoia for Knoll large diamond lounge chair in black with original full cover.  An excellent vintage example with brand new rubber shock mounts.  Refinished - sandblasted and powder coated.  Based on outer wire thickness, would date to late 60s.

The biggest version of this sculptural icon that is still sold today with rubber shock mounts for relaxed movement.  It is a beautiful and iconic representation of Harry Bertoia's work and unbelievably comfortable (with or without the original full cover).  Harry Bertoia's 1950 experiment with bending metal rods into practical art produced a revered collection of seating, including the Large Diamond lounge chair. Innovative, comfortable and strikingly handsome - it is a wonderful example of the mid-century modern spirit.

In Bertoia's own words, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them."

Good vintage condition

Sculptural Bilbao Sofa & Side Chair by Vladimir Kagan

A beautiful example of a sculptural modern sofa that looks great  (literally - from all angles) by the legendary Vladimir Kagan.

Inspired by Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Mr. Kagan, one of the 20th century’s most successful designers, passed away in 2016. His classic sofa designs boast smooth, sensuous lines with an unparalleled flair. Kagan’s work did not lend itself to mass-production. He never signed on with any of the major furniture-making corporations, and examples of his designs are relatively rare.

The neutral fabric in very good condition, as is the foam.  Includes matching swivel side chair.

Warren Platner Dining Table for Knoll - //SOLD//

Designed by Warren Platner in 1966 for the Platner Collection. This is a modern production by Knoll manufactured in 2008 and originally purchased at Design Within Reach.

The iconic dining table, which creates a focal point for any dining room, is created by welding curved steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving as structure and ornament.

Made up of hundreds of individual welds, all soldered by hand, resulting in forms that recall "sheafs of wheat." Platner favored more expressive and shapely designs than those generally called for by other brands of modernism. "I, as a designer, felt there was room for the kind of decorative, gentle, graceful kind of design that appeared in a period style, like Louis XV."

Florence Knoll Walnut Credenza for Knoll Associates - //SOLD//

Own a piece of iconic mid-century modern American design with this walnut Florence Knoll Credenza for Knoll Associates. It served duty at the iconic Xerox Tower in Rochester, New York for more than 50 years.

Architect, furniture designer, interior designer, entrepreneur — Florence Knoll had a profound influence on the course of mid-century American modernism.

Florence, orphaned at age 12, was sent to Kingswood, a boarding school that is part of the Cranbrook Educational Community. Her keen interest in design brought her to the attention of Eliel Saarinen, the Finnish architect and head of the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Saarinen and his wife took the talented child under their wings, and she became close to their son, the future iconic architect Eero Saarinen. While at Cranbrook, Florence befriended Harry Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames. Later, she then studied under three of the Bauhaus masters who emigrated to the United States - Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer; and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe taught her at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
